Personal Bio

I have over forty years of experience as a Board Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (APRN) working with children, adolescents, and adults (currently only working with adults). I have worked in various settings and provided different levels of psychiatric care in inpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization settings, and outpatient settings. I’ve also worked in employee assistance and consult-liaison psychiatry in a general hospital. For many years I also provided clinical education and mentoring and also worked as an individual and marital therapist. Once laws were passed in 1996 for Advance Practice Nurses to attain prescriptive authority, I became one of the first APRNs in the state of Indiana to obtain this license and have been solely focusing on the pharmacologic treatment of psychiatric disorders since then. I remain fascinated, challenged, and passionate about my work. I like to work collaboratively with my patients-helping them learn about what they are experiencing and educating them about options for treatment so that they can actively participate in decisions about their care.
