Personal Bio

Kourtney Klepfer, LCSW earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Saint Joseph’s College and received her  Master’s in Social Work from Indiana University in 2007. She has trained under tremendous mentors and has been practicing clinical social work/psychotherapy from West to East coast, in a a variety of clinical settings, with a focus of Women’s Mental Health.

In conjunction with other therapies, Kourtney also utilizes EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) in her practice. EMDR is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD and trauma. Traumas can be defined as big ‘T’ traumas (abuse, assault, car accidents, etc.) or little ‘t’ traumas (conflicts, confrontations etc.), and can also be very effective with phobias, anxiety and targeting negative beliefs and emotional states that contribute to destructive or negative behaviors. This involves a process called bilateral (or side to side) stimulation, engaging both sides of your brain through series of visual or tactile movements. It is safe, and non invasive and works without the use of drugs or hypnosis.

Though most of her clinical practice has been coast to coast, she is a native of Indiana, and welcomes each client with a warm and accepting environment. Kourtney has a strong passion for working with women in all stages of life, transitions and recoveries, and providing support to foster change, inner growth and discover peace and love for one’s self. She uses a collaborative and eclectic approach to treatment by treating each client with respect and honoring their specific and unique needs for their care.

In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, traveling, while also finding new fun activities to do around town, and as a former athlete remaining active at home or outdoors.
