Personal Bio
I am a clinical psychologist with more than 50 years of experience providing psychotherapy and conducting psychological and neuropsychological evaluations. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and cognitive concerns.
Psychological & Neuropsychological Testing
I provide psychological and neuropsychological testing for individuals ages 7 and older. Testing can be especially helpful when a diagnosis is unclear, when multiple conditions may be contributing to symptoms, or when treatment is not producing the expected results.
My evaluations can support differential diagnosis and provide a better understanding of co-occurring conditions, symptom severity, prognosis, personality functioning, and factors that may affect treatment response. I evaluate a wide range of clinical concerns, including ADHD, high-functioning autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD and trauma-related conditions, thought disorders, personality concerns, and other complex clinical presentations.
My goal is to provide useful information that helps patients, families, and treating providers better understand what may be contributing to a person’s difficulties and make more informed treatment decisions.
Most testing evaluations can be completed in three appointments, with evening and Saturday appointments available.
Psychotherapy
I also provide individual psychotherapy for adults ages 18 and older. I believe therapy is most effective when it takes place in an atmosphere of warmth, understanding, authenticity, and positive regard.
Treatment goals are something we determine together. I individualize treatment based on each person’s needs and integrate evidence-based cognitive, behavioral, interpersonal, and dynamic approaches. My work focuses not only on reducing symptoms, but also on the factors that contribute to self-esteem, emotional stability, productivity, healthy relationships, and overall life satisfaction.
I work with adults experiencing depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, stress, trauma, and other emotional and behavioral concerns.
Outside the Office
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. My wife and I have been married for 35 years, and we have three grown daughters and five grandchildren. I also enjoy playing guitar.
Education
I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Purdue University in 1980 and completed my doctoral internship through the Veterans Administration and Community Hospital from 1978 to 1980. I earned my MA in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University in 1972 and my BS in General Experimental Psychology from Ball State University in 1971.
I am listed in the National Register of Health Service Psychologists and am a member of the American Psychological Association, including Division 12, the Society of Clinical Psychology, and Division 40, the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology.
