Personal Bio

I was born and raised in Michigan, but Indiana has been my home for over twenty years. I obtained my undergraduate degree in biology from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. I completed medical school and psychiatry residency at Indiana University School of Medicine and have been practicing psychiatry for over a decade. I have experience in emergency and inpatient psychiatry, outpatient addictions and chronic mental illness, LGBTQ+ mental health, and community mental health. Before going into private practice, I was the Chief Medical Officer for one of the largest Community Mental Health Centers in Indiana and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine, which included training medical students and psychiatry residents, as well as being the course director of Emergency Psychiatry for the residency program. I currently serve on the council for the Indiana Psychiatric Society (IPS) and am the American Psychiatric Association Assembly Representative for our district. I have served on the Indiana State Medicaid Therapeutics Committee. In 2019 I presented on the importance of medical-legal partnerships in mental health at the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA. I am also an OutCare Health certified provider. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my daughter, family, and bull mastiff; traveling; attempting/pretending to learn German; baking; karaoke; woodworking; and reading anything about history.
